To enjoy Roulette, it is helpful to familiarize yourself with the various bets, and the proper placement of your bet. Putting your chips just one inch off the mark can result in a wager completely different from the one you intended.
The Single Number Bet You're betting that one number of the 38 spots, including 0 and 00, will come up. This bet pays 35 to 1. Place your chips directly on the number you choose.
The Split Bet This is a wager that one of two adjoining numbers will come up. It pays 17 to 1. Place your chips on the line separating the two adjoining numbers.
The Three Number Bet Also called a "street" bet. This is a wager that one of three numbers in a cross row will come up. It pays 11 to 1. Place your chips on the outside border of the cross row of your choice.
The Four Number Bet You're betting that one of four numbers that form a square will win. The bet pays 8 to 1. Place your wager on the corner where all four numbers meet.
The Six Number Bet Also called an "avenue" bet. This is a wager on the six numbers in two adjoining cross rows. It pays 5 to 1. Place your chips on the spot where the line between the rows meets the outer border.
The Column Bet Each of the three long columns contains twelve numbers. You're betting that one of the numbers in the column you choose will come up a winner. It pays 2 to 1. Place your chips in the box marked 2 to 1 at the base of the column you choose.
The Dozen Bet This is also a bet on twelve numbers, and like the Column Bet, it also pays 2 to 1. However, these numbers run consecutively: 1 to 12 is called the first twelve; 13 to 24 is called the second twelve, and 25 to 26 is called the third twelve. Put your bet in the corresponding box at the side of the table layout.
Red and Black, Odd and Even, 1 to 18 and 19 to 36Each of these wagers pit one half of the table against the other. They all pay even money, and there is, at the side of the table layout, an appropriately marked box for each of these bets.
Roulette can really be an exciting, fast-paced game! Have fun!
